Job Summary
Cardiothoracic Operating Room Nurse responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating peri-operative patient care in the OR, coordinating with physicians and staff, managing supplies and equipment, maintaining sterile technique, and supporting Mercy Hospital’s mission. Requires RN licensure, completion of nursing education, ACLS/CPR certifications, and at least six months of OR experience. Role involves 40 hours per week on 8-hour shifts with rotating weekends/holidays/call, and a focus on safe, quality patient care, infection control, and collaborative, multidisciplinary teamwork within the operating room.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school
- RN licensure in state of practice
- ACLS (if not current, scheduled in next class)
- CPR
- Six months OR experience at Mercy Hospital
- Knowledge of room setup, instruments and equipment for operative care
- Proficiency in peri-operative nursing and pain management
- Ability to work 40 hours per week with rotating weekends/holidays/call
