Job Summary
Perform all therapeutic and diagnostic procedures available through the Department with a complete understanding of equipment, supplies, indications, contraindications, and physiological effects. Execute pulmonary function testing and manage patient care under the supervision of licensed respiratory therapists. Maintain current certification as a Registered or Certified Respiratory Therapist, including BLS and ALS credentials, and adhere to St. Tammany Health System's mission and values. This role supports the full-service acute care facility's commitment to delivering life-improving procedures with the latest technology to residents of west St. Tammany Parish.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of an AMA approved school of Respiratory Therapy/Cardiopulmonary Science
- Pulmonary Function testing experience
- Current Certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered or Certified Respiratory therapist
- Current license by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners as a licensed respiratory therapist
- Current BLS and ALS certifications through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross
- The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off
- Current certification through one of the following agencies or willingness to obtain certification within 12 months of hire: Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist from a CTTTP accredited program
- National Certification in Tobacco Treatment Practice (NCTTP) from the NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals
- Basic computer skills
- Must possess good physical health
- Standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time
- Lifting at least 50 pounds
- Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise
