Job Summary

The Cardiology Advanced Practice Professional (CAPP) coordinates outpatient cardiology services, collaborates with SEARHC and visiting cardiology teams, and serves as a liaison with patients’ cardiologists and primary care physicians. Responsibilities include direct cardiology care, cardiovascular disease management (CAD, heart failure, dysrhythmias, valvular disease, hypertension), cardiac device management and follow-up (ECGs, Holter, stress tests, device interrogations, generator changes, remote monitoring), leadership and training on device management and ECG interpretation, quality assurance and regulatory activities, and coordination of care across primary, hospitalist, and specialty teams. The role requires independent practice, leadership in cardiology services, annual budgeting for cardiac care, supervision/direction of staff, engagement in accreditation and professional activities, and travel as needed. Required qualifications include an RN bachelor’s degree, MSN as a Nurse Practitioner, Alaska licensure (or active licensure pending), specialty certifications in cardiac care, ACLS/BLS, and extensive experience with cardiac devices and supervision. The position is based in Juneau, Alaska, with travel as part of duties and a focus on continuous improvement in cardiac care delivery.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
  • Master of Science Degree as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Active licensure in the State of Alaska (may practice under any active state license as a direct hire employee pending AK licensure)
  • Specialty certification through the ABCM, ANCC or other nationally recognized body involved in certification of providers specializing in cardiac care
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • 5 years’ supervisory experience involving Cardiology care
  • Cardiac device follow up experience with competence in arrhythmia interpretation
  • Proficiency with device programmers (St. Jude, Boston-Scientific, Medtronic)
  • Knowledge of cardiac device terminology and procedures
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and concepts of cardiac disease process
  • Knowledge of pacemakers and ICDs including timing cycles and features
  • Knowledge of clinical protocols and patient care practices
  • Knowledge of hospital/clinic environments and patient care flows
  • Knowledge of Alaska Native/American Indian communities
