Job Summary
Conduct daily cleaning and upkeep of guest rooms, bathrooms, shared areas, campsites, and privies while maintaining a respectful, clean, and safe communal living environment. Respond to all guest complaints and special requests, providing information on local recreation opportunities and guiding guests through kitchen use. Perform routine maintenance of the facility and grounds, including trash and snow removal, minor building repairs, and ice/snow clearing from buildings and fire exits daily. Assist with check-in and check-out of lodge and campsite reservations, record and post the weather, and build and tend a fire in the woodstove daily. Oversee traffic in the parking lot and implement energy conservation practices. Work full-time seasonal hours from October 24, 2026, to March 12, 2027, at Cardigan Lodge in Alexandria, New Hampshire, with room and board included.
Required Qualifications
- 18 years and older
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds on-site and in the backcountry
- Ability to travel safely in the backcountry in all weather conditions
- Caretakers must be physically and mentally able to endure and enjoy solitude and extreme weather conditions
- Ability to operate standard office and maintenance equipment
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in hospitality or outdoor recreation is preferred
- Experience in customer service and exceptional communication skills
- Self-motivated and able to demonstrate responsibility and reliability without daily supervision
- Ability to adapt and thrive in a consistently changing work environment
- Success in performing a wide range of assigned tasks with attention to detail
- Ability to resolve conflicts with a calm and respectful demeanor
- Must work well in a team and have enthusiasm for communal living
