Job Summary
Provide 24/7 accountability for a 37-bed Cardiac Stepdown unit, ensuring optimal climate for individualized, goal-directed nursing care. Develop and implement plans for evidence-based cardiac nursing delivery through the Synergy Model framework. Manage 60 FTE staff by selecting, developing, and delegating tasks aligned with patient needs and employee competencies. Review budgets to maintain operating expenses at target levels while controlling costs without compromising safety. Follow guidelines for infection prevention and Joint Commission Patient Safety Goals. Report trends from the occurrence reporting system quarterly to improve patient safety and ensure staff education on error reporting. Collaborate with the Director of PCU and interdisciplinary teams to optimize operations and outcomes. Support organizational goals for Magnet or Pathways excellence standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from accredited program
- Current Texas RN license in good standing or active multi-state compact license
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care cardiac care leadership experience with progressive leadership background
- Previous experience at Magnet-designated or Pathways facilities
- National specialty certification or plan to achieve within 1 year of hire
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- Strong leadership, communication, and financial management skills
- Expertise in cardiac stepdown operations and progressive care nursing
Desired Qualifications
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Master's Degree in related field
- PCCN (Progressive Care Certified Nurse) or cardiac specialty certification
- Experience in Level I Trauma Centers or Comprehensive Stroke Centers
- Background in budget management and cost optimization
