Job Summary
Perform cardiac ultrasound procedures including 2-Dimensional, Doppler, M-Mode, and support TransEsophageal Echo, stress echoes, and contrast procedures while observing patient safety practices. Receive and complete requisitions, enter relevant data and measurements into the diagnostic imaging information system, and prepare patients for specific procedures. Participate on committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned. Work within a patient/client and family-centred framework and continuum-based care model at qathet General Hospital in Powell River, BC, with Vancouver Coastal Health.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a recognized training program in Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography
- Certified with Sonography Canada or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
- Certified with Sonography Canada and have passed the Sonography Canada Skills Assessment (CCSA)
- Completion of Intravenous Therapy training course or applicable experience working in IV Therapy or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of theory and practice for Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography
- Demonstrated knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with diagnostic cardiac sonographic equipment
- Demonstrated ability to perform sonographic examinations in compliance with departmental standards
- Demonstrated computer skills including the ability to effectively use a computerized client care information system
- Demonstrated knowledge of the aseptic techniques
- Demonstrated ability to communicate (orally and in writing) and deal effectively with clients and their families, co-workers, physicians, other health care staff, and staff of external agencies
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others
- Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others
- Demonstrated ability in CPR techniques
- Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment
- General knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-based care
- Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety
- Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safe care
- Must be able to complete a Criminal Records Review Check
- Must be able to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections
