Job Summary
Performs diagnostic cardiac sonography procedures including 2D transthoracic echocardiograms, exercise/dobutamine stress echocardiograms, agitated saline (bubble) studies, and ultrasound-enhancing agent echocardiograms; adheres to local/state/federal regulations and organizational policies to ensure privacy and patient safety; demonstrates proficiency in high-complexity imaging and collaboration with health-care teams.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited Cardiac Sonography Program or from an accredited formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or equivalent education that meets credentialing requirements
- RCS (CCI) - Registered Cardiac Sonographer OR ARDMS (RDCS AE for adult or RDCS PE for pediatric)
- BLS - Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Level III
- 2 of the following: RCS (CCI) OR ACS (CCI) OR ARDMS - various RDCS/FE/RVT credentials
- Experience requirements vary by level (Level I no work experience; Level II minimum 2 years; Level III minimum 5 years)
- Proficiency in diagnostic cardiac sonography principles and operation of imaging equipment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Familiarity with RIS/LIS/EHR/PACS systems
- Regulatory/privacy compliance (PHI) and quality/safety standards
