Job Summary
Competently perform diagnostic cardiac sonography procedures to assess cardiac structures and hemodynamics, including transesophageal echocardiograms, intraoperative imaging, and structural heart procedures. Execute complex congenital pediatric echocardiograms and orient other staff as needed. Prioritize assignments within standardized operating procedures while ensuring patient privacy and collaborating with healthcare providers. Maintain proficiency in imaging equipment and electronic health records systems. Work independently in a varied schedule environment with potential travel to sister sites for coverage.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited Cardiac Sonography Program
- Graduation from an accredited formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or equivalent education that meets the credentialing requirement pathway
- RCS (CCI)-Registered Cardiac Sonographer
- ARDMS (RDCS AE for adult or RDCS PE for pediatric)
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
- 2 years recent relevant experience
- Intermediate knowledge of diagnostic cardiac sonography principles, procedures, and views
- Experience with the operation and maintenance of imaging equipment
- Experience responding to traumas and various hospital emergencies
- Proficient in performing cardiac sonographic examinations
- Solid understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
- Written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences
- Well-developed time management and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods
- Working knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Working knowledge of Radiology (RIS), laboratory (LIS), electronic health records (EHR), EPIC, and picture archive and communication system (PACS)
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to be part of a team
- Ability to accomplish multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions
- Ability to identify, evaluate and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options
- Ability to ensure the privacy of each patient's PHI
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with peers and other healthcare providers
- Occasionally travel to sister sites for coverage
