Job Summary
Administer contrast media into coronary arteries during cardiac catheterization, recognizing pathology effects and vital signs to determine injection pressure. Scrub independently as a first assistant to the physician, manipulating guide wires and catheters while performing hemodynamic monitoring and recording cardiovascular procedure calculations. Schedule patient flow, maintain interventional supplies and department check sheets, and order inventory through the hospital purchasing system. Enter patient and supply data into RIS/hospital computer systems, operate emergency equipment safely, and respond to on-call emergencies per department policy. Perform pre-procedural duties including sterile tray preparation, patient education, and lab confirmation, followed by post-procedural observation, site management, and discharge instructions. Provide patient transportation and communicate care status to receiving units. Safely operate digital imaging equipment and processors to produce high-quality diagnostic images in accordance with policy.
Required Qualifications
- Satisfactory completion of an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology of at least 2 years duration
- 2 years' experience in diagnostic radiology
- Experience in interventional radiology/cardiac catheterization or equivalent
- American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) certification or registration
- Radiology Technologist license in the State of Maryland
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or eligibility
