Job Summary
The Card Payments Specialist manages the day-to-day card processing operations, ensuring secure, accurate handling of debit and credit card activities, including activation, maintenance, and closures. Responsible for monitoring daily card activity to identify fraud trends, handling chargebacks and disputes per Visa rules, and ensuring regulatory compliance (Reg E, Reg Z). Performs general ledger balancing related to card transactions and settlement accounts, reconciles interchanges and processor fees, and prepares/reviews monthly and quarterly reports. Serves as the primary point of contact for internal and external inquiries regarding debit/credit products, providing knowledgeable support to branch staff and customers on card usage, declines, and security best practices. Proficiency in Visa networks and card processing systems, fraud detection, risk mitigation, and financial reporting is required; strong communication and customer-service orientation are essential.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED with 2 years of experience in card operations, card payments, or banking in a financial institution or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
