Job Summary
The Captain - River Division is responsible for the safety and navigation of the vessel, crew management, adherence to safety protocols, and effective communication with various stakeholders. Candidates must have a USCG Merchant Mariner’s Credential with Towing Endorsement and relevant experience, along with strong leadership and communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Valid USCG Merchant Mariner’s Credential with Towing Endorsement
- Valid TWIC
- Valid Radar Endorsement
- Experience pushing barges (tows of 6 or more preferred for River Division)
- Pass pre-employment drug test
- Submit to random DOT testing requirements
- Meet USCG physical examination requirements
- Pass pre-employment physical
- Strong time management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Prior experience in a similar position within the marine transportation industry
- Prior experience in a safety sensitive position
Additional Requirements
- Must work a 6 hour on 6 hour off watch (line haul) or 12 hour watch (harbor)
- Physical requirements for safety
- Pass annual Benzene Monitoring Program if applicable
