Job Summary
Oversee crew to ensure safe, reliable, environmentally conscious, and efficient vessel operations. Steer and operate the vessel using radios, depth finders, radars, and navigation aids while docking and undocking through narrow spaces. Perform inspections of all equipment and systems, supervise each department, and manage cost, maintenance, and cleanliness. Communicate during stressful situations and notify the Company of any issues affecting seaworthiness, safety, or environmental quality. Ensure all crew members remain on board during assigned hours and maintain compliance with Flag State, Class, and Port State regulations. Requires a USCG Merchant Mariner Credential with international endorsements, five years of tank vessel experience, and ability to work in confined spaces.
Required Qualifications
- USCG Merchant Mariner Credential international and national endorsements capable of foreign voyages
- OICNW (STCW II/1 or II/2, II/3)
- Proficiency in the use of survival craft (PSC) (STCW VI/2)
- GMDSS (STCW IV/2)
- Adv Fire Fighting (STCW VI/3)
- First Aid and Medical Care (STCW VI/4)
- Vessel Security Officer (STCW VI/5)
- Master 1,00 GRT upon Oceans or higher
- Master Towing upon Oceans
- Tankerman PIC (Barge) Dangerous Liquid Cargoes
- Valid USCG/STCW medical certificate
- Valid TWIC card
- U.S. Passport
Desired Qualifications
- Maritime Academy graduate
- Five years of experience as petroleum ATB Master or other tank vessel experience
- ABS Nautical Systems NS5 experience
- GMDSS (STCW IV/2)
- Adv Fire Fighting (STCW VI/3)
- First Aid and Medical Care (STCW VI/4)
- Vessel Security Officer (STCW VI/5)
- Tankerman PIC (Barge) Dangerous Liquid Cargoes
