Job Summary
Conduct cruises as captain, ensuring adherence to procedures, scripts, and Coast Guard regulations while supervising crew and piloting the vessel. Manage operations teams by recruiting staff, delivering training, and scheduling shifts to maximize payroll efficiency. Resolve guest problems using effective communication skills and oversee safety programs including emergency drills and maintenance of ship systems. Complete shift records, incident reports, and payroll documentation while executing assigned projects. Work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays onboard a moving vessel in varying weather conditions.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 100-ton license with a satisfactory record
- Minimum of five (5) years of marine experience
- Two (2) years as a captain with an outstanding record
- Detailed working knowledge of all ship's systems and their proper maintenance: gangways, diesel, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, water (potable, raw, black, and gray), fire suppression, communications, and navigation
- Ability to operate vessel in accordance with all Coast Guard rules and procedures
- Vessel handling and navigation knowledge
- Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form
- Ability to effectively deal with internal and external guests some of whom will require high levels of patience tact and diplomacy
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to analyze and solve problems
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities/tasks
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (especially Word & Excel)
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts as operational needs require
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of marine experience—preferably to include two (2) years as a captain with an outstanding record
