Job Summary
Supervise and coordinate banquet staff during setup, service, and breakdown phases of events, ensuring spaces are arranged precisely to Banquet Event Orders and layout standards. Lead pre-event briefings, assign duties, and manage staffing levels while monitoring guest experience on the floor to address requests promptly. Serve as the primary contact with event planners and clients, collaborating with kitchen, stewards, and catering departments to maintain service excellence. Mentor and train staff on service standards, uphold safety and alcohol regulations, and manage inventory of equipment and linens. Requires 3+ years of banquet leadership experience, flexible schedule including evenings and holidays, and ability to lift 50 lbs. Lead a team of 110 staff at Town and Country Resort's San Diego convention footprint.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in banquet or event service leadership at a resort or large venue
- Strong supervisory and team-motivation skills in high-volume environments
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and guest service abilities
- Ability to stay calm, decisive, and solution-oriented under pressure
- Flexible schedule is a must—events often include evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout shifts
- Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, and climbing stairs across event spaces
- Must be capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lbs, e.g., trays, linens, equipment
- Comfortable working in dynamic environments—conference centers, ballroom floors, banquet halls, and outdoor spaces
