Job Summary
Capital Projects / Major Maintenance Construction Inspector ensures conformance with design drawings, standards, and accepted construction methods by inspecting ongoing work, preparing inspection reports, and assisting in contractor evaluations. The role requires reviewing drawings and specifications, coordinating with architects, engineers, and site personnel, and traveling to cross-cultural rural Alaskan environments and remote villages as needed. Strong computer literacy and office procedures are expected, along with the ability to work in challenging, remote settings.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Bachelor's degree with emphasis in construction management, engineering, architecture, or related field, or work experience sufficient to substitute for formal education
- Hands-on construction experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of principles, practices, equipment, procedures, and materials pertinent to the construction, maintenance, repair and alteration of buildings and related facilities and equipment
- Demonstrated ability to use PC computers, electronic office equipment and familiar with general office procedures
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with architects, engineers, site administrators, contractor superintendents, and crew foremen
- Ability to live and work in a cross-cultural rural, Alaskan environment
- Ability and willingness to travel to remote village locations, as necessary
- Ability to carry out successfully the duties described below
