Job Summary
Capital Projects Engineer – Mechanical position at Grande Prairie Pulp Mill. Responsible for facility and pipeline mechanical design, equipment sizing/selection, piping design/layout, isometrics, P&IDs, and field/work package preparation. Provides technical support, ensures regulatory and safety standards compliance, coordinates with multidisciplinary teams, and manages project delivery from planning through commissioning. Requires a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with 5-10 years of experience, APEGA-registered path (P.Eng or in progress), and proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SAP, ASME B31.1/B31.3, and process safety concepts.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
- 5-10 years of mechanical engineering experience
- Registered Engineer in Training or Professional Engineer with APEGA
- Ability to stamp mechanical drawings as P.Eng or working towards P.Eng status
- Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and SAP
- Knowledge of ASME piping codes B31.1 and B31.3 and Boiler Pressure Vessel codes
- Familiarity with Alberta Boilers Branch standards and design registration process
- Experience with developing P&IDs, isometrics, and process flow diagrams
- Process safety engineering knowledge
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to prepare design notes, calculations, and specifications
- Experience coordinating with procurement and construction teams
- Experience in capital project management and multi-discipline coordination
