Job Summary
Conduct voter-registration, voter-education, and civic-engagement activities by visiting neighborhoods, businesses, community locations, and public events in assigned Latino communities. Engage residents using approved scripts to discuss voter registration, voting by mail, and Get Out the Vote initiatives while accurately recording doors knocked, contacts, and metrics in VAN or mobile applications. Provide voter-registration applications and assist with completion without altering applicant information, ensuring all forms are protected from loss or unauthorized disclosure. Respect individuals who decline participation or request to end outreach, and refer complex legal or media questions to the Canvass Lead. Follow all safety procedures, including responding to emergencies, reporting injuries, and leaving unsafe locations immediately. Maintain professional conduct and confidentiality while working up to 30 hours per week across daytime, evening, and Saturday schedules.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to learn and accurately communicate approved voter-registration and voter-education information
- Ability to follow scripts, turf assignments, reporting requirements, and safety procedures
- Dependable, punctual, organized, and attentive to detail
- Ability to remain professional during difficult or unexpected interactions
- Legible handwriting and accurate data-entry skills
- Ability to use a mobile phone, tablet, or canvassing application
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Professional proficiency in English and Spanish
- Ability to work up to 30 hours per week, including daytime, evening, and Saturday schedules
- Ability to travel throughout assigned communities and field locations
- Must meet all eligibility, training, appointment, and certification requirements applicable to individuals who collect or submit voter-registration applications in the assigned jurisdiction
- Must be registered or eligible to register to vote (depending on applicable law)
