Job Summary
Conduct voter-registration, voter-education, and civic-engagement activities in assigned Latino neighborhoods, businesses, community locations, and public events using approved scripts. Engage community members regarding voter registration, voting by mail, and Get Out the Vote initiatives while documenting contact results and entering data into VAN, MiniVAN, or mobile applications. Provide voter-registration applications and assist with forms without altering applicant information, ensuring all materials are protected and returned per established procedures. Respect individuals declining participation and refer complex questions to the Canvass Lead. Follow assigned turf, schedules, safety reviews, and reporting requirements while maintaining professional conduct and accurate time records. Work up to 30 hours per week across daytime, evening, and Saturday shifts, including outdoor duties in varying weather conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to learn and accurately communicate approved voter-registration and voter-education information
- Ability to follow scripts, turf assignments, reporting requirements, and safety procedures
- Dependable, punctual, organized, and attentive to detail
- Ability to remain professional during difficult or unexpected interactions
- Legible handwriting and accurate data-entry skills
- Ability to use a mobile phone, tablet, or canvassing application
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Professional proficiency in English and Spanish
- Ability to work up to 30 hours per week, including daytime, evening, and Saturday schedules
- Ability to travel throughout assigned communities and field locations
- Must meet all eligibility, training, appointment, and certification requirements applicable to individuals who collect or submit voter-registration applications in the assigned jurisdiction
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods
- Must be able to travel on foot across sidewalks, stairs, uneven surfaces, and varying terrain
- Must be able to operate a mobile phone, tablet, computer, and other field equipment
- Must be able to lift or carry outreach materials weighing less than 25 pounds
- Must be able to perform field duties outdoors in heat, cold, rain, wind, and direct sunlight
Desired Qualifications
- Previous canvassing, voter-registration, campaign, community-outreach, customer-service, organizing, sales, or other public-facing experience
- Interest in civic participation and Latino community empowerment
- Strong interpersonal, listening, and communication skills
