Job Summary
Canoe Data / Integration Engineer to build, maintain, and improve Canoe integrations with enterprise platforms (Addepar, Snowflake, reporting tools, portfolio systems, accounting systems); support document ingestion, classification, extraction, validation, and downstream delivery of alternative investment data; develop data pipelines, SQL queries, and reconciliation logic; collaborate with investment operations, reporting, portfolio management, accounting, compliance, and technology teams to translate business requirements into data requirements; ensure secure data movement from Canoe into Snowflake and other platforms; participate in testing, deployments, and runbook documentation; ensure data quality and governance across investment data workflows.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data analysis, platform integration, investment operations technology, financial systems support, or enterprise data operations
- Experience with Canoe or comparable alternative investment document automation, data extraction, data management, or investment operations platforms
- Strong understanding of alternative investment workflows (capital calls, distributions, statements, valuations, commitments, fund metadata, investor entities, client reporting)
- Intermediate to advanced SQL skills
- Experience translating business requirements into technical specifications, data mappings, validation rules, reconciliation procedures, and operating documentation
- Experience with data integrations, data pipelines, file-based transfers, API-based integrations
- Experience with Snowflake, Addepar, or related enterprise data platforms
- Experience with Python, dbt, Airflow, or equivalent data engineering tools
- Ability to work in Brown Advisory’s Baltimore office three days per week
