Job Summary
Train assigned CPV Canine Program Guardian teams to acquire skills for cues, handling, and behaviors from basic obedience to service level. Assist in developing dogs enrolled in the Canine Development Program and Advanced Training while coordinating behavioral checklists and evaluations. Consult with the Canine Program team to document effective training plans, monitor dog progress through socialization stages, and ensure consistency in techniques. Maintain a clean, safe environment, perform public access training and testing, and respond to health or behavioral emergencies during non-work hours. Collaborate with the canine team to identify gaps and solutions, develop accurate records, and obtain required CEUs. Represent Clear Path at community events and travel to chapter locations as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field OR equivalent work experience with certification in a recognized canine training school or recognized organization
- 3-5 years proven successful experience training dogs using modern training techniques
- American Kennel Club (AKC) Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Evaluator certification
- Experienced with both group and private training sessions
- Background in training service dogs
- Excellent verbal, written presentation, and IT skills
- Experience working with or maintaining extended associations with Veterans
- Understanding of and commitment to Clear Path's mission, policies, and protocols
- Knowledge of the assistance dog industry and associated standards
- Good knowledge of canine behavior and communication
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Proficient with time management with the ability to prioritize tasks
- The ability to be compassionate yet firm and exercise good sound judgment
- Ability to exhibit passion and support for the Clear Path Veterans mission
- Ability to work with a diverse group of people

- May be required to work weekends, and evenings as needed

- Required to travel to chapter and affiliate locations as strategically defined
- Must possess speech and hearing sufficient for telephone and in-person communications
- Manual dexterity is sufficient for constant use of computer keyboard and other office equipment
- Vision sufficient for frequent use of a computer monitor, developing and reading paperwork
- Must be able to stand and be actively mobile for extended periods of time, including bending, stooping, reaching, running, balancing, etc
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 35 lbs
