Job Summary
Manage all technology-based systems, hardware, and software supporting fixed route and specialty transit services for the City of Barrie. Serve as the technical point of contact for the Company, Client, and vendors regarding communication and data processing systems. Provide day-to-day user support for desktops, phones, and voicemail while installing, configuring, and monitoring server virtualization, network infrastructure, and security systems including video surveillance and access control. Troubleshoot applications and hardware malfunctions, maintain databases and inventory, and develop policies for electronic data processing. Control IT budgets and expenditures, facilitate training for employees, and communicate system requirements and timelines to client support and managers.
Required Qualifications
- Five (5) years of management experience in IT systems and support
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience managing in a unionized environment
- Cost control or financial/budgeting experience
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent knowledge in Information Technology
- Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- Be able to pass and maintain a clear Criminal Background Check
- May be required to qualify as a Joint Health and Safety Committee certified management member
- Proficiency in the following systems/applications: Windows Server Environment
- Proficiency in the following systems/applications: Microsoft SQL Server & Microsoft Exchange
- Proficiency in the following systems/applications: MySQL
- Proficiency in the following systems/applications: Internet Information Services
- Proficiency in the following systems/applications: Back Up Systems
- Proficiency in the following systems/applications: Network/workstation peripherals; print servers; firewalls, spam & antivirus hardware/software
- Proficiency in the following systems/applications: Classic ASP, VBScript, Javascript, HTML, Cascading Style Sheets
- Proficiency in the following systems/applications: Microsoft Windows Office
- Proficiency in the following systems/applications: Trapeze Software Program
- Proficiency in the following systems/applications: Spider Reports
- Proficiency in the following systems/applications: Mobile Data Terminals and Software and related hardware
- Proficiency in the following systems/applications: Hindsight 20/20 Drive Cam Software and related hardware
- Knowledge of computer hardware and software systems and programs
- Knowledge of computer networks, network administration and network installation
- Extensive knowledge of computer viruses and security systems
- Extensive knowledge of E-mail and Internet programs
- Working knowledge of phone systems and radio communication and related software
- Ability to install and administer computer hardware, software and networks
- Computer skills including the ability to operate computerized accounting, spreadsheet, word-processing, graphics
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with an ability to influence people at all levels of the organization
- Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while exceeding established goals and objectives
- Ability to work independently and objectively
- Ability to effectively delegate tasks and provide appropriate supervision and follow up to department staff
- Demonstrated ability to manage with a Safety First attitude
