Campus Safety Officer - 2nd Shift Full-time

Job Summary

Conduct campus patrols, respond to emergency and crisis incidents, and manage access control during assigned shifts. Complete after-hours property checks, routine building rounds, and first responder calls while dispatching incidents and responding to fire or security alarms. Produce University Identification cards and support other departments in their operations. Work a 24-hour rotation covering 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m. to midnight, or midnight to 8:00 a.m., including nights, weekends, and holidays. Maintain a clean driving record and possess valid certification in CPR, First Response, Mental Health First Aid, and Crowd Management.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or related field
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in law enforcement or campus safety or a combination of experiences in college or university campus environment
  • Certification in CPR and First Response
  • Certification in Mental Health First Aid
  • Certification in Crowd Management
  • Certification in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
  • Certification in Defensive Driver
  • Certification in Sexual Assault Prevention and Response
  • Completion of Campus Safety, Facilities, Grounds and Residence Life and Community Standard Training
  • Physically able to lift various materials up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis
  • Physically able to remain standing up to minimally 50% of the time
  • Capability to work in varying weather conditions
  • Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform typing, operate a computer and other office equipment
  • Physically able to remain seated, frequently to continuously
  • Valid driver's license
  • Clean driving record
  • Familiarity with campus security systems, radio communications, and emergency response protocols
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions during emergencies
  • Ability to respond quickly to emergencies across campus
  • Must be available to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, scheduling software, and dispatch communication Platforms
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and multitasking skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or related field preferred
