Job Summary
Public Safety Officer responsible for enforcing traffic and criminal laws, parking regulations, and campus safety. Duties include patrolling the campus, conducting investigations, directing traffic during high-density periods, arresting violators, writing incident reports, and testifying in court. Must maintain firearms proficiency and certification, communicate clearly in writing and verbally, and coordinate with local, state, and federal law enforcement when needed. Regular duties involve monitoring security systems, responding to alarms, and ensuring the safety of students, staff, and visitors in all weather conditions and throughout extended shifts.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certified as a law enforcement officer by the Arkansas Law Enforcement Standards Training Academy, or a similar academy (ACA 12-9-106)
- Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license
