Job Summary

Assist administration in maintaining a safe, positive learning environment by supervising students throughout the school day, including gym, cafeteria, hallways, and class transitions. Monitor student behavior, escort students to offices or classrooms, and cover classrooms when substitute teachers are unavailable. Perform duties such as bus, car line, gym, and lunch supervision while maintaining communication via two-way radios. Inspect restrooms for loitering or damage and take action to defuse potential confrontations. Report tardies, truancies, and incidents to administrators. Assist in identifying and preventing gang activities and direct authorized visitors.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher
  • Minimum of forty eight (48) semester college hours from an accredited college or university
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency) and passed the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) test
  • Be eligible to obtain a paraprofessional certificate issued by the State Board of Educator Certification
  • Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check
  • Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee
  • Ability to work well with youth and adults
  • Ability to be flexible
  • Self-motivated
  • Be knowledgeable or be willing to receive training in Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) Techniques
  • Be able to administer Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • One year experience working with children (preferred)
