Job Summary
Coordinate the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults across its four periods, from initial inquiry through the celebration of sacraments. Serve as the catechist for the program, designing and delivering the curriculum in dialogue with the Sunday lectionary and liturgical year. Accompany inquirers, catechumens, and candidates individually, and prepare sponsors and godparents for their role. Prepare those baptized in other traditions for reception into full communion, Confirmation, and First Eucharist. Design and lead retreats and days of reflection, coordinate the wider sacramental life including Reconciliation and infant baptisms, and conduct marriage preparation for couples marrying in University worship spaces. Serve as the Campus Ministry liaison to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and maintain accurate, confidential sacramental records. Administer the program budget and support outreach for sacramental preparation opportunities. Work evenings, weekends, and liturgical seasons outside regular business hours.
Required Qualifications
- Typically a Master's degree in theology, divinity, religious studies, or pastoral ministry, or equivalent experience in adult catechesis
- Minimum 3 years of experience in catechesis, adult faith formation, parish ministry, or campus ministry
- Practicing Roman Catholic in good standing
- Working knowledge of the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults and its associated rites
- Working knowledge of Catholic marriage preparation
- Working knowledge of the norms and documentation governing the celebration of the sacraments
- Demonstrated ability to teach adult faith formation with theological accuracy and pastoral sensitivity
- Demonstrated ability to accompany adults from a wide range of religious backgrounds and degrees of prior formation
- Demonstrated accuracy and discretion in maintaining confidential records
- Highly developed organizational skills
- Exemplary written and oral communication skills
- Experience leading public prayer
- Familiarity with Ignatian spirituality
- Familiarity with the traditions of Jesuit and Marymount education
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and liturgical seasons that fall outside regular business hours
- Demonstrated computer competency
- Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
