Job Summary
Patrol school property to enhance safety and security while monitoring hallways to ensure an orderly environment. Enforce district and individual school regulations, policies, and procedures in coordination with education personnel and students. Assist administration in removing disruptive students from classrooms when necessary and maintain radio contact with other School Safety Officers and School Resource Officers. Communicate with students to help maintain a calm and non-violent atmosphere. Report regularly to the assigned work location and notify supervisors of impending absences. Requires a Mississippi Law Enforcement Police Officer Part-time Certificate, three years of law enforcement experience, and a 40-hour School Safety Officer Basic Course.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or High School Equivalent
- Three (3) years of experience related to above described duties in the law enforcement, security, or military areas
- Possession of a current State of Mississippi Law Enforcement Police Officer Part-time Certificate
- Complete a 40-hour School Safety Officer Basic Course as approved by the Mississippi Department of Education
- Consent to a rigorous background investigation
