Job Summary
Inspect and coordinate maintenance, repairs, and equipment functions for Salvation Army buildings, living quarters, and grounds, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work. Perform routine maintenance, run errands, oversee vendor schedules, and ensure work stays within estimates. Regularly clean buildings, sanitize areas, and conduct groundskeeping to maintain landscape beauty. Test, adjust, and diagnose machinery, heating, cooling, and piping systems while recording issues. Troubleshoot minor mechanical malfunctions on dishwashers, laundry machines, and playground equipment, and perform preventative maintenance. Ensure all light fixtures, AC units, and program equipment operate properly and remain free of leaks, debris, or mold. Maintain a valid driver's license and ability to lift up to 100 lbs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Some course work from a technical or vocational school in construction, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning
- Three years' experience performing maintenance and repair work for commercial building and grounds
- Two years of maintenance and carpentry experience
- Good skill in the use of hand and power tools
- Valid State Driver's License (if required by duties)
- Bulldozer Certification
- Certification in one or more maintenance field
- Ability to meet attendance requirements
- Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language
- Ability to perform heavy lifting
- Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects (25-50 lbs.)
- Physical ability to team lift heavy materials, supplies and equipment (50-100 lbs) occasionally
- Physical ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing
- Ability to read and follow a map and/or hand-written directions
