Job Summary
Teach swimming and lifeguard for ESF Camps, instructing campers ages 3-14 with lifeguard duties and pool safety; support pool operations and report progress; require American Red Cross Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR/AED certifications; work 8:15 am–3:40 pm, Monday–Friday during summer camp; must be at least 16 years old and physically capable of rescue tasks and lifting up to 35 pounds; dress in ESF uniform, embody ESF core values, and collaborate with a team of lifeguards/swim instructors to provide a safe, engaging camp experience.
Required Qualifications
- Swimming background; previous swimming background with swim team, water polo, or structured swim program preferred
- Experience working with children; camp setting preferred
- Age 16 by start of camp
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
- Current American Red Cross First Aid Certification
- Current American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Certification
- Ability to see, climb, bend, swim, float, kneel, and carry individuals during rescue operations
- Push/pull, lift and carry at least 35 pounds
- Ability to work outdoors, upright and mobile for 6-8 hours per day
- Complete ESF and state-mandated training and onboarding
- Maintain ESF uniform and embody ESF core values
- Strong communication with campers, families, peers, and leadership
- Report to Camp Aquatics Director and Site Director
- Teach swimming to campers ages 3-14; provide weekly progress reports
- Pool operations and safety procedures (water quality testing, chlorine)
- Demonstrate positive group management and role modeling
- Follow all company policies
