Job Summary
The Camp Counselor engages and supervises groups of children in a variety of sports activities, ensures a positive, enjoyable, and safe experience, carries out lesson plans across basketball, flag football, soccer, and lacrosse, maintains rosters and camper forms, communicates with parents professionally, applies behavior management techniques, ensures camper safety, assists with early morning drop-off and/or late pick-up, supports other counselors, and performs related duties. Requires experience in day/sports camps, CPR and first aid certifications, and strong communication and organizational skills to coordinate activities for large groups of children.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in a day camp or sports camp setting working with children
- Collegiate or high school athletic experience preferred
- College degree preferred; or currently in school, working towards a degree
- Varied experience with recreational and athletic activities; knowledge of basic sports skills and instruction and knowledge of sports rules and regulations
- Ability to work with and communicate well with children and their parents as well as other staff
- Ability to lead and involve campers in various sports activities
- Ability to edit MS Word/Excel documents and send email messages with attachments to parents
- Ability to provide first aid and emotional support and assistance to children
- Ability to coordinate the use of facilities and activities for a large group of children
- Ability to maintain effective relationships with employees
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, adults, and other staff
- Licenses and Certifications: CPR and first aid certifications required
