Job Summary
Assist the Director in daily oversight of recreational operations for J-Space and J-Cation, planning and leading activities including STEM, arts, athletics, and swimming based on monthly themes. Escort children to the after-school program, greet new arrivals, and actively supervise student safety while enforcing camp rules and regulations. Promote a positive classroom environment by modeling proactive behaviors, maintaining accurate attendance records, and distributing daily snacks and project materials. Ensure all spaces and equipment remain clean and organized throughout the day. This role requires Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification, a high school diploma, and the ability to swim, with a commitment to the full academic school year.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience with the Alliance's core values and a clear commitment to them
- Background in education, mentoring, STEM, the arts, athletics/movement, teambuilding, and/or Jewish learning
- Must have or willingness to obtain Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Must pass criminal background check and DCYF clearance dated within the last 6 months
- Prior experience working with children in an organized setting
- Understanding of DHS regulations or willingness to acquire knowledge
- Ability to work every day during after school hours and commit to an academic school year as required for the position
- Must be able to swim and pass a swim test
- Able to participate in games, sports, and physical activities including water-based games and activities
- Able to maintain attention and high level of energy or excitement for extended periods of time
- Must be able to spend time outdoors and tolerate a variety of weather conditions
- Ability to sit, stand, move, and bend for extended periods of time
- Enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, including occasional nights and weekends
- Ability to work closely with others in a team environment and effectively interact with all levels of the community to include leadership, parents, and volunteers
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
- Working knowledge of the growth and development of elementary age children and ability to utilize this information in the classroom
- Strong written and oral communications skills
- Ability to set priorities and handle multiple projects
- Strong organizational skills
