Job Summary
Camp Chef needed for Galena Creek Summer Exploration Camp. Two Camp Chefs will plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals for up to 40 campers and 4 staff, manage an industrial kitchen, handle grocery shopping within budget, ensure dietary/allergen needs are met, and mentor up to three culinary interns weekly. Responsibilities include menu development for multiple daily meals, sack lunch preparation for field trips, kitchen oversight, food storage and sanitation, and collaboration with the Camp Director on budgeting and procurement. Requires strong culinary skills, food-safety knowledge, budget discipline, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Certification in ServSafe is required; valid driver’s license. Compensation is contract-based at $1,000 per week (approx. 40 hours), with on-site lodging provided. Dates of employment July 8, 2025 – August 7, 2025, Monday–Friday; occasional weekend work possible. Passion for working with children and fostering a positive camp environment.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking, preferably for large groups, school groups (including camps), or institutional setting.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Valid driver's license.
- Professional kitchen certification, ServSafe, is required.
