Job Summary

Oversee general operation of the Fab Lab and Fab Lab Studios to ensure readiness for Camps and Education programs. Manage Camp programming for youth participants using the Make_X Grid System, coordinate with the Camps team and Student Experiences leadership, and work with all Education departments on curriculum design and implementation. Facilitate learning using inquiry-based practices while ensuring safe operation of all equipment and hand tools. Create engaging experiences utilizing design-thinking and engineering principles, manage student interns and volunteers, and coordinate program logistics including greetings, sign-ins, and break times. Design and pilot community-aligned programming for off and after-hour family experiences. Ensure program materials and technology are operational before and after sessions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree
  • 1-3 years related experience in youth or public program facilitation
  • Driver's license or ability to obtain a driver's license
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and procedure manuals
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of the organization
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as addition, subtraction, percentages, etc.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form
  • Ability to perform various functions such as standing, sitting, walking/moving across uneven surfaces, climbing stairs, lifting, pushing, carrying, seeing in varying light conditions, fine finger dexterity, and participating in some physical activities
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in management of learning environments including logistics leading up to program initiation, and teaching in formal or informal settings
  • Experience with 2D & 3D design software, and technical instruction
  • Familiarity with the Griffin MSI Wanger Family Fab Lab, its general function and place in the network
  • Proven capacity to learn new design software applications and computer-controlled machinery, such as 3D Printers, Laser Cutters, Vinyl Cutters, and Digital Embroidery Machines
