Camp Assistant Nurse Manager

Job Summary

Oversee daily Health Center operations and nursing staff by supervising shift transitions, managing schedules, and providing mentorship. Assist with hiring, orientation, and training for nursing and Health Care Assistant personnel while ensuring compliance with DOH, ACA, and agency policies. Provide direct clinical coverage including medication administration, emergency response, and treatment support. Maintain accurate medical documentation, monitor supply inventories, and conduct equipment checks. Act as the on-site lead during the Nurse Manager's absence and collaborate with camp leadership on seasonal planning and vendor coordination. Work in Hunter, NY, during camp season (May–September) with on-call availability of 24/7 response within 30 minutes. Requires an Associate degree, current NYS RN license, and CPR/AED certification.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree
  • Bachelor's degree, preferred
  • Current NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Current CPR/AED certification, or ability to obtain within 60 DAYS of hire
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to remain on campgrounds for extended periods during the camp season, including overnight stays when required for on-site RN coverage
  • Ability to move throughout camp property, including uneven terrain and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to lift, carry, or move up to 25 pounds independently and assist with lifting/transferring campers as needed
  • Capacity to respond quickly in emergency situations, which may require physical activity (e.g., CPR, first aid)
  • Tolerance for extended standing, walking, or bending during daily operations
  • Must be immediately available 'on call' 24/7 during camp sessions unless alternate coverage is arranged (response time within 30 minutes)
  • Based in Hunter, NY, five days per week
  • Required to be on-site overnight on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays
  • Requirement to be on-site in Hunter at least three days per week, as per the needs of the program schedule by the Nurse Manager

Desired Qualifications

  • Two or more years of nursing experience, preferably in a supervisory or leadership role
  • Experience working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities
