Job Summary
CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist & Medical Director at Cygnet Hospital Bury Forestwood. This full-time role (0.2 WTE Medical Director and 0.8 WTE Consultant Psychiatrist) oversees Buttercup ward (an 8-bed CAMHS PICU for 12-18-year-olds) and serves as Responsible Clinician and Medical Director. Responsibilities include leading clinical practice, governance, audits, risk management, recruitment and supervision of medical staff, maintaining GMC standards, and ensuring high-quality whole-person treatment. The post involves chairing medical advisory committees, liaising with regional leadership, CPD, and contributing to governance and strategic objectives. Requires GMC registration, specialist registration in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, MRCPsych or equivalent, and extensive experience in CAMHS, with strong leadership and communication skills. Salary up to £187,000 per year with competitive benefits; located at Cygnet Bury Forestwood, United Kingdom.
Required Qualifications
- Fully GMC registered & MBBS (or equivalent)
- Registered on the specialist register (CCT/CESR), Section 12 and AC Status
- Experience in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
- Knowledgeable of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, along with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Capacity
- MRCPsych or equivalent
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Commitment to continued professional development
- Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Royal College of Psychiatrists membership (MRCPsych) or equivalent
