CALS- Technician II- Hudson Valley Lab- Entomology

Technician II responsibilities include providing routine to moderately complex technical lab and field support for a research program, assisting with insect monitoring and field research, cultivating and maintaining insect colonies, developing and maintaining a database, and performing standard stains, media, buffers and reagents preparation. Will prepare and maintain standard tissue and cell culture, perform standard cell/tissue assays and analyses, analyze data using straightforward statistical methods, and maintain lab records. Responsibilities also include setting up equipment, assisting with course instruction, inventory and supply ordering, and ensuring adherence to lab safety, radiation, and chemical safety procedures. Requires a high school diploma and up to 2 years of relevant experience (or equivalent), prior lab experience, and ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students. Valid NYS driver’s license and ability to drive for university business are required. The position is full-time (97.5% FTE), a one-year term contingent on funding, and relocation assistance is not provided.
