Call Center Representative

Job Summary

Answer inbound calls and respond to online appointment requests for Capital Area Health Network. Accurately schedule medical appointments and transportation for new and existing patients while entering, verifying, and updating personal, demographic, and billing information in the Electronic Health Record. Obtain insurance and income details as needed, resolve patient issues using eClinicalWorks, and educate callers on appointment importance. Recognize and document trends in patient calls to the supervisor. Perform administrative duties and adhere to all CAHN standards, guidelines, and policies. Monday through Friday with occasional extended hours; on-site position in Richmond, VA.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • One to three years of progressive customer service experience
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of supervisory experience in a call center or customer service environment
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and use a computer and telephone headset
  • Occasional lifting of office supplies or materials under 20 lbs

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in a call center and/or medical office
  • Experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in an FQHC or community health center
  • Familiarity with eClinicalWorks
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field
  • Working knowledge of EHR systems (e.g., eClinicalWorks, NextGen, Epic)
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish or other language commonly spoken by patient population)
