Call Center Nurse Consultant

Job Summary
Conduct phone triage and prescription refills for callers seeking care, performing systematic interviews to determine symptom urgency and appropriate referral levels. Document patient demographics, chief complaints, and treatment recommendations while acting as a liaison between patients and providers to coordinate appointments and follow-up care. Evaluate patient understanding of care plans, provide health education and crisis intervention per protocol, and manage daily work-queues to identify process improvements. Requires Bachelor's Degree in Nursing with five years of clinical experience, active RN licensure, and BLS certification. Full-time role at The University of Kansas Health System in Kansas City.
Required Qualifications
- High School Graduate or GED
- Bachelor Degree Nursing
- 5 or more years clinical nursing experience in Emergency, Pediatrics, Obstetrics, Behavioral Health or Critical Care
- 1 or more years clinical experience can be substituted for clinical certification or prior triage or health coaching experience
- Call Center experience
- Basic Life Support Heartsaver (BLS HS) (Non-Clinical) - American Heart Association (AHA) within 14 days
- Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Single State - State Board of Nursing
- Must have current active multistate state Register Nurse (RN) license in good standing in state in which you live OR active single state RN license in good standing in the state you will be working with proof of application of a multistate RN license in the state in which you live
- Staff hired prior to 2/1/2024 are required to obtain a multistate state RN license from the state in which they live at the time of their next RN license renewal by 3/31/2026
- Specialty Nursing Certification
- Advanced typing and word processing ability
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Excellent organization abilities and documentation skills
- Apply human relation skills and customer service skills in providing patient care and in establishing good rapport
- Provide counseling, home treatment advice, and crisis intervention according to established protocols and standards of care
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department
- Employment with the health system is contingent upon, among other things, agreeing to the health-system-dispute-resolution-program.pdf and signing the agreement to the DRP
