Job Summary
Answer phones, relay incoming calls to appropriate radiologists, and assist referring providers with clinical questions. Schedule patient appointments, coordinate interpreter services, and make reminder calls. Perform exam pre-authorization, insurance verification, and register patients in the billing system. Relay urgent results from radiologists to providers, create documentation, and coordinate medical records or attorney requests. Handle clerical duties including filing, typing, courier runs, and preparing correspondence. Provide backup support to front desks and track office supply inventory. Requires full range of finger dexterity, ability to lift up to 15 lbs, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and radiology information systems. High school diploma required; previous scheduling and billing experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Previous experience with hospital/clinic scheduling
- Previous experience with hospital/clinic billing
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of healthcare insurance procedures
- Knowledge of proper imaging billing practices
- Knowledge of Continuous Quality Improvement principles
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Radiology information system applications
- Ability to apply written guidelines and standardized work practices, identify problems and communicate clearly
- Must have demonstrated ability to interact positively with supervisors, peers, co-workers, subordinates, patients and visitors
- Must meet regular attendance standards and must stay at, or below, accrued PTO utilization levels
- Requires full range and finger dexterity with hand-eye coordination for operation of all department equipment
- Requires ability to lift up to 15 lbs
- The employee is regularly required to talk and hear
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in a busy physician practice preferred
- Previous medical records experience a plus
- EPIC software experience a plus
- Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus
