Job Summary
Answer incoming calls, direct them to appropriate departments, and schedule procedures and office visits while informing patients of required preps. Take messages, screen and forward calls, and check insurance carriers to confirm practice participation. Enter new insurance information, update or correct patient data to ensure accuracy, and make necessary copies of paperwork. Communicate with physicians regarding scheduling preferences, maintain confidentiality, and keep managers updated on unusual situations. Work independently under pressure to adapt to daily schedule changes and physician requests.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of and/or experience in a private medical office
- Must successfully pass a background check and a drug screening
- Ability to communicate effectively on the telephone and in writing
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Able to demonstrate accuracy and efficiency
- Ability to read and comprehend patient medical charts, medical terminology, prescription medications and physician messages
Desired Qualifications
- Strong computer skills and interpretation of EMR systems
- Previous scheduling experience
