Job Summary
Ensure the accuracy, traceability, and timely calibration of measurement tools and equipment across the manufacturing environment by coordinating external calibration services and maintaining internal standards like gage blocks and scales. Detect wear, damage, or drift in tools, quarantine out-of-tolerance items, and work with stakeholders on corrective actions. Manage calibration schedules, track certificates, maintain recall logs, and conduct periodic audits of shop tools to verify presence and condition. Document equipment history and vendor certificates accurately while monitoring the program against AS9100D Clause 7.1.5 requirements. Schedule preventive maintenance for critical tools to minimize production disruptions and maintain relationships with calibration vendors for cost control and certificate accuracy.
Required Qualifications
- Attention to Detail: Ability to detect wear, damage, or drift in measurement tools.
- Organizational Skills: Capable of managing calibration schedules, tracking certificates, and maintaining calibration recall logs.
- Communication: Clear communication with external calibration vendors, quality engineers, and production personnel.
- Problem Solving: Able to identify and quarantine out-of-tolerance tools and work with stakeholders on corrective actions.
- Documentation & Recordkeeping: Accurate documentation of calibration status, equipment history, and vendor certificates.
- Time Management: Ability to prioritize and schedule calibrations to minimize production disruptions.
- Tooling Inventory Management: Responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records of measurement tools and calibration equipment.
- Tooling Audits: Conducts periodic audits of shop tools to verify presence, condition, and calibration status.
- Preventive Maintenance Oversight: Coordinates with departments to schedule preventive maintenance of critical tools where applicable.
- Vendor Liaison: Maintains relationships with calibration vendors to ensure timely service, cost control, and certificate accuracy.
- Compliance Monitoring: Monitors calibration program against internal standards and AS9100D requirements to ensure continuous readiness for audits.
