Calibration Technician II

Job Summary

Perform calibration work with little to no supervision, conducting independent research and managing daily workloads without direction. Identify and utilize appropriate measurement techniques while maintaining calibration standards and applying uncertainties to measurements. Read and interpret lab scopes of accreditation, work effectively with support staff, and perform calibrations within a laboratory or customer on-site setting. Fulfill duties safely under working conditions, adhering to company requirements and standards. Travel up to 50% of the work schedule.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years driving experience with a valid driver's license and acceptable driver history
  • Associates degree from college or technical school, or 3+ years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Successful completion of assigned training materials through on-the-job training, online content, LMS, and classroom led instruction
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Self-motivated learner with the ability to learn new skills related to calibration and calibration processes
  • Ability to take direction and learn from feedback
  • Ability to communicate well with supervisor, solve problems effectively, and work both independently and as part of a team
  • Travel requirements: up to 50% of work schedule
  • Ability to read, write, talk, and hear
  • Occasionally will be required to lift up to 75 lbs
  • Regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock
  • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and vibration
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

Desired Qualifications

  • Calibration Technician II is a mid-level position, for which at least three (3) years of commercial calibration experience is preferred
  • Working knowledge and competency in at least four (4) disciplines and expert in one (1) discipline preferred
  • Previous experience or training in electronics or machining
  • Basic mathematical skills including algebra, geometry, and statistics
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office computer software including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Basic organizational and time management skills
  • Advanced organizational and time management skills
  • Experience in PMEL, PME, TMDE, Metrology, Calibration, ASQ CCT, METCAL, GPETE, Electronics, GCAMS, or Avionics
  • Experience working within ISO 17025 preferred
  • Understanding of uncertainty contributions to the measurement process
  • Strive to obtain the ASQ/CCT or CMT certification
