Job Summary
Perform independent calibration work with little to no supervision, either in a laboratory or at customer onsites. Coordinate daily workloads, manage schedules, and train fellow technicians while developing and implementing process improvements. Identify measurement techniques, design budgets, and provide detailed analysis of calibration processes and uncertainties. Gather and process data reviews as needed, maintaining calibration standards across disciplines. Travel up to 50% of the designated work schedule. This role supports Transcat's mission to deliver trust in vital industries including life sciences, aerospace, and defense.
Required Qualifications
- Must be fully experienced in at least two disciplines or advanced understanding of multiple disciplines
- Must be able to work with and understand new equipment
- Advanced proficiency with office computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Advanced organizational and time management skills
- Elite interpersonal skills when interact with customers
- Associates degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
- 5+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must be able to travel up to 50% of designated work schedule
- Senior calibration technicians will be required pass the ASQ CCT
Desired Qualifications
- Extensive statistical background preferred
- Familiarity with complex tools and equipment
- Must be able to explain calibration issues and processes to customers when needed
- Must be able to coordinate and manage daily workloads without direction from manager
- Able to conduct calibration work at customer onsites with little to no supervision
- Clear comprehension of uncertainties
- Must be able to maintain calibration standards
- Must be able to gather and process data review when necessary
- Must be able to perform these functions within a laboratory or customer onsite setting
- Must be able to identify and utilize appropriate measurement techniques
- Must be able to design budgets
- PMEL (Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory) or TMDE (Test Measurement Diagnostic Equipment) training + military experience in the calibration field plus 2+ years civilian experience preferred
- Candidates with experience in PMEL, PME, TMDE, Metrology, Calibration, ASQ CCT, METCAL, GPETE, Electronics, GCAMS, or Avionics highly desired
