Prepare breakfast and lunch meals and follow established recipes to ensure quality, portion control, and nutrition in a noisy school kitchen. Serve attractive, well-presented menu items in a friendly manner and adhere to sanitation and food safety practices established by the food service program. Attend a 10-hour sanitation course and complete safety training videos; perform duties such as cashiering, baking, dish-room upkeep, inventory control, and various kitchen tasks. Operate kitchen equipment (e.g., meat slicers, food choppers) and maintain cleanliness of equipment and work areas; follow dress code and safety requirements. Must be physically able to lift 30-50 pounds and work in conditions with heat, steam, and chemicals. Position is tied to 185 days of employment and may involve various related duties as assigned by cafeteria management. High School diploma required; previous school food service experience preferred.
