Job Summary
Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and snack items while maintaining high standards of food safety and sanitation. Replenish food stations, manage storage areas, and operate kitchen equipment according to established procedures. Handle cashier functions, record requisitions, and monitor cafeteria operations during service hours. Rotate through kitchen stations and assist with deliveries or special events as assigned by the manager. Perform duties as needed in Port Arthur, Texas, including some travel to other campuses.
Required Qualifications
- Must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check
- Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by candidate
- Must have Food Handlers Certification from an (ANSI) American National Institute Standards accredited program or obtained during employment
- Certifications not accredited by ANSI must be registered with the Texas Department of State Health Services
- Working knowledge of industrial kitchen equipment and food production
- Manual skills and endurance necessary to perform work duties
- Ability to follow instructions
- Knowledge of principles of quantity food preparation
- Knowledge of basic measurements for dry and liquid ingredients
- Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
- Some travel to other campuses within the district as needed
- Extended hours as needed
- Frequent standing, walking, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, reaching, kneeling, stepping, climbing (e.g. ladder)
- Moderate exposure to extreme hot and/or cold temperatures, slippery or uneven walking surfaces
- May have exposure to biological hazards
- Keeps regular attendance and punctuality which are essential functions of the job
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma, G.E.D. equivalency or higher preferred
