Job Summary
Cafeteria General Helper supports food preparation, counter setup, and serving for the school cafeteria. Responsibilities include preparing, assembling, portioning, and serving food items, assembling portions on carts, delivering meals to classrooms, arranging service lines, handling cash as a point-of-sale cashier, operating kitchen equipment, receiving and rotating inventory, and maintaining food safety and sanitation per Health Department standards. The role may involve cooking/baking with institutional equipment, assisting in field trips or events, recording food temperatures, and attending required trainings. Requires basic knowledge of institutional quantity food preparation, ability to follow instructions, and potential ServSafe certification; background check and pre-placement medical assessment are required. Education: High School diploma or GED. Experience: one year in large-quantity food preparation and serving preferred.
