Job Summary
Prepare food using standardized recipes and measurements, following time schedules to meet deadlines. Maintain sanitary kitchen practices, monitor and report food and equipment temperatures, and manage portion sizes. Receive and store deliveries, track food usage and leftovers, and complete record-keeping. Foster a collaborative team environment and interact professionally with students, staff, and the public; operate or assist with kitchen equipment and, if needed, drive a company vehicle. Adhere to federal, state, and local child nutrition policies and procedures, and comply with required annual training.
Required Qualifications
- high school diploma or GED
- Must complete the Louisiana Department of Education’s Professional Standards Training requirements each year
- Phase I training within first year
- Previous school cafeteria experience (preferred)
- Oral and written English; basic math; knowledge of kitchen operations; safety; proper food handling, storage, temperature, and portion sizes; knowledge of Child Nutrition Program policies and procedures
