Job Summary
Cafeteria Food Tech- Donaldsonville performs food preparation using standardized recipes, monitors quality to meet deadlines, and maintains sanitary kitchen conditions. Responsibilities include portioning portions with proper sanitation, reporting food usage and leftovers, inventory handling, receiving deliveries, and assisting coworkers to meet scheduled demands. The role requires maintaining temperatures, documenting temperatures, following safety procedures, and interacting with students, faculty, and the public. The position may involve driving a company vehicle if needed. Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, safety, and local/national nutrition policies is preferred; prior school cafeteria experience is desirable. Must meet high school diploma or GED and annual Phase I training requirements; basic math, English communication, and the ability to learn computer programs are necessary.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Must complete Louisiana Department of Education’s Professional Standards Training requirements annually
- Must have successfully completed Phase I training within first year of hire
- Previous school cafeteria experience (preferred)
- Ability to read and follow written instructions, schedules, recipes
- Basic math skills for currency and recipe measurements
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to learn computer application programs
- Knowledge of kitchen operations, safety, proper food handling, storage and temperatures
- Ability to supervise and delegate tasks
- Ability to operate basic cafeteria equipment
- English language proficiency
