Job Summary
Cafeteria Food Service Worker responsible for preparing and serving nutritional meals for students and staff in compliance with USDA and TDA guidelines. Duties include following HACCP and safety procedures, maintaining high-quality food and sanitation standards, operating and caring for kitchen equipment, completing daily HACCP reports, and assisting across multiple campus locations (floaters/substitutes). Requires ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions; HS diploma or equivalent; and may obtain Food Handler’s Certification after starting. Experience with coordination of work, customer service, and ability to work within district guidelines is valued.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions
- Food Handler’s Certification, preferred but not required; will obtain after you start working
- Kitchen 101, preferred but not required; will obtain after you start working
- Meet physical requirements
- Demonstrates knowledge of the TDA and USDA guidelines in regard to National School Lunch and Breakfast Program
- Prepares and services food according to established procedures and methods
- Ensures that the finished product is of the highest quality possible
- Demonstrates a good personal appearance and cleanliness in work habits
- Follows safety and HACCP program in respective kitchen, following the county, state, and federal health department regulations
- Attends staff development as required by the district
- Maintains regular and consistent attendance
- Performs all other duties as assigned by Cafeteria Manager or Nutrition Services Supervisory staff
Desired Qualifications
- Food Handler’s Certification, preferred but not required
- Kitchen 101, preferred but not required
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to coordinate and produce work in the allotted time
- Ability to communicate and get along with co-workers, students and staff members at each school
