Job Summary
Cafeteria/Bus Aide position at EastSide Charter School in Wilmington, DE. Responsibilities include assisting the driver with loading/unloading passengers, supervising students during transit, maintaining student discipline, reporting concerns to the driver/supervisor, learning bus routes, evacuations, and assisting with cafeteria duties (cleanup, supervising meals). Qualifications emphasize urban school experience, strong communication, multitasking, independence and teamwork, initiative, problem-solving, and a commitment to supporting underserved student communities. Length of work year is 10 months with a salary commensurate with experience. Reporting to the Director of Operations/Transportation Coordinator. Location: East Side Charter School. Reports and workplace expectations center on student safety, supervision, and support in both transportation and cafeteria settings.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: At least two years of urban school experience
- Bus Aide must: Be driven to improve the lives of students from underserved communities, communicate effectively with diverse audiences, juggle multiple tasks, work independently and with a team, act entrepreneurially as an initiator and problem-solver
- Ability to load/unload passengers safely, supervise students, learn bus evacuation procedures, follow routes and directions for substitutes
- Commitment to school community and student success
- Flexibility to work 10-month school year
- Ability to maintain discipline and assist with meals and cafeteria duties
