Job Summary
Prepare, cook, and serve meats, breads, vegetables, fruits, desserts, salads, and soups according to the menu. Operate dishwashers, mixers, choppers, slicers, steamers, ovens, and other food service equipment while washing pots, pans, and utensils. Clean work surfaces, eating areas, and food preparation zones; sweep, mop, and perform assigned clean-up duties. Maintain sanitary conditions by checking refrigerator and freezer temperatures and rotating stock appropriately. Assist in estimating and ordering food supplies, receiving stock, and entering data into a computer system for account additions, meal ringing, reporting, and daily deposits. Serve as cashier when assigned. Work long hours standing under high temperatures with regular supervision from the Cafeteria Manager.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduation
- Experience in food preparation
- Ability to get along well with others
- Ability to work long hours while standing and under high temperature conditions
- General knowledge of materials and methods used in preparing and serving meats, breads, vegetables and other foods on a large scale
- General knowledge of the use or care of food preparation equipment
- General knowledge of food values and nutrition
- General knowledge of U.S.D.A. rules and regulations
- Skill in the use of standardized recipes and specialized kitchen utensils and equipment
- Exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally
- Exertion of 20 pounds of force frequently
